Mary Annie Newton (Laney)

Mary Annie Newton, age 94 of Marble, passed away Monday, January 9, 2012 at Murphy Medical Center Nursing Home. She was born March 31, 1917 in Morrow County, TN to the late William Thaddis Laney and Verdie Louise Bevins Laney . A member of Little Brasstown Baptist Church , she was preceded in death by husband, William Lester Newton, son, William Crayton Newton grandson John Brian Newton, great grandson Xavier Thompson, five brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include: daughter and son in law, Verdie and Joe Patterson of Marble, son and daughter in law, John Clayton "J.C." and Ruth Newton of Marble, son and daughter in law, Albert and Becky Newton of Marble, son and daughter in law, Therman and Jody Newton of Peachtree, daughter and son in law, Annie Mae and Dillard Dockery of Florida, Brother, Fred Laney, sister, Bertha McHan grandchildren, Robert Newton, Marvin Patterson, Steve Newton, Jack Newton, Scotty Newton, Jason Newton, Amanda Reynolds, Jamie Newton, April Thompson, Bronson Newton, Harrison White, Ernest White, Mary Davis, Annie Rogers, Ruby Ford and Dillard Dockery several great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services: Thursday, January 12, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the Cochran Funeral Home with the Rev. Aud Brown and Rev. Mitchell Totherow officiating. Music provided by: Mary Newton and Bronson Newton. Interment followed in Little Brasstown Baptist Cemetery. Pallbearers: Bronson Newton, Ernest White, Jamie Newton, Marvin Patterson, Dillard Dockery and Jason Newton. Honorary pallbearers: Steve Newton, Michael Newton, Greg Newton, Harrison White and Jack Newton .
