Mary Adeline Wrinkle Kuntzler, age 86, of Blairsville, Georgia passed away Sunday, December 11, 2016 after a brief illness.
Mary was born on June 23, 1930 in Dalton, Georgia. She spent her childhood years in Dalton before moving to Atlanta as a teenager. In Atlanta she graduated from Roosevelt High School, formerly Girls' High. At 17 she met her beloved husband, Joe Kuntzler, and they were married on New Year's Day 1949. In the early 80's Mary moved with her husband to the mountains of north Georgia and called Blairsville home.
Mary's church was always an important part of her everyday life. Bible study was a lifelong passion. She volunteered in a number of capacities, but her real love was teaching Sunday school. She taught Sunday school at her church homes in the Atlanta area for years and continued to do so in Blairsville at First Baptist Church. She loved her dear friends in the Faith Sunday School Class of First Baptist and served as their dedicated teacher for over 25 years.
Mary began full time work as a bookkeeper in 1960, but prior to that she was a homemaker, and a very talented one at that. Mary was, as many have said, one of the all-time great cooks. Many of her family's special memories are of aromas from the kitchen and food shared around her table. She had the very greenest of thumbs and loved her flowers and working in her yard. She loved her cats, although there seemed to be an abundance of them on occasion.
Mary dearly loved her family, her friends, her neighbors and her church. She will be sorely missed by them all. Her family feels blessed that she had such a full and purposeful life. She is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Joe Kuntzler, and she is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Tom Burns; daughter, Victoria Samuels; grandson and wife, Thomas and Jamie Burns; grandson, Benjamin Burns; great-grandsons, Everett and Wyatt Burns; nieces and nephews and many cousins.
Memorial services are scheduled for Friday, December 16th at 11:00 a.m. from the Rock Chapel of First Baptist Church of Blairsville with Dr. Fred Lodge officiating.
The family has suggested that any memorial donations be made in support of hunger and homelessness in the Blairsville community or in your own community.
