Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville announces funeral services for Mr. Otis Garfield McCollum, age 77, of Blairsville, Georgia, who passed away Friday, November 18, 2011.
Mr. McCollum was born in Blairsville on April 6, 1934, a son of the late Norman and the late Bonnie McCollum. A lifelong resident of Blairsville, he was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. Mr. McCollum had served his country in the U.S. Army. Besides his parents, he had been preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn Lee Weaver, and Anna Lou Akins.
Mr. McCollum is survived by his sisters and brothers, and their families: Clint McCollum, Jimmy McCollum, Charlene Hamby, Cathy Newton, and Billy McCollum, all of Blairsville.
Funeral services have been scheduled for Wednesday, November 23, 2011, at 2:00 p.m., in the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville. Military Honors will be presented by North Georgia Honor Guard. Visitation at the funeral home will be held on the day of the funeral, starting at 12 noon.
