Prior W. Cantrell

Mr. Prior W. Cantrell, age 93 of Blairsville, passed away Saturday, November 14, 2015 at his home. Mr. Cantrell was born October 4, 1922 in Coker Creek, TN to the late Harvey Mid Cantrell and the late Vinie Dennie Cantrell. Prior attended New Hope Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by 7 brothers and 3 sisters. Prior was a hardworking, loving, honest, and proud man. He loved to tell his stories of him growing up - the hard times he and his family had during the Depression. He told of his moonshining days, running from ol' Harlan Duncan. He had so many memories, some sad and some that would make you laugh 'til you cried. He never had a wife and children of his own, but he loved. He loved with his whole heart. He helped raise seven kids like they were his own. He loved and praised God every day. He felt the presence of God with his entire being. He is the last of his family and has missed them so very much. His last day, he pointed up and said, "Home". Prior is rejoicing with all his loved ones now and is finally home.

Survivors include: Numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services: Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the Chapel of the Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville with the Rev. Leon McDonald and Rev. Mike Welch officiating. Music provided by: Spirit Led. Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers: Caleb Kephart, David Crisp, Dale Chance, Travis Cantrell, Zachary Shook, Dewayne Cantrell. Honorary pallbearers: Timmy Duckworth, Blake Taylor.

The family will receive friends at the Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, Monday, November 16, 2015, 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm.
