Loving husband, father and grandfather, Raymond Thomas, age 89 of Morganton, GA, passed away Wednesday, November 24, 2010. Raymond was born in Fannin County, Ga. on October 25, 1921 to Patrick & Mattie Mitchell Thomas. He was a member of New Union Baptist Church of Blairsville, and a member of Young Cane Masonic Lodge # 597 F &AM. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and racing with his kids & grand kids, working with his dozer & bobcat, and visiting with his many friends & family.
He was preceded in death by son, Larry Junior Thomas, daughter, Linda Joan Addington, son, Michael Steve Thomas, brother's and sister's, Elgin Thomas, Birdie Cole, Beadie Gillespie, Fleta Davenport, Magie Ballard, Leona Davenport, Jack Thomas, John Ray Thomas, Elsie Davenport, & two infant sisters.
Survived by his loving wife of sixty seven years, Mildred Hughes Thomas, son & daughter in law, Ronald & Rhonda Thomas, daughter's & son in law's, Gail and Larry Sutton, JoAnn and Don McClure, daughter in law Gigi Thomas, eleven grandchildren; Mitzi Adams, Christy Reece, Mark Thomas, Cody Thomas, Kevin Sutton, Kimberley Shook, Nick McClure, Jamie McClure, Brad Thomas, Justin Thomas & Brittany Thomas, nine great grandchildren; John, Tyler, Cauy, Bailey, Payton, Kenslee, Hailey, Hannah & Emilee.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 25th at the Henry Cochran Funeral Home of Blue Ridge from 6:00-9:00pm.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, November 26th at 2:00 at New Union Baptist Church in Blairsville with Pastors, Kenny Beavers and Harrison Bradley officiating, music by the New Union Baptist Church Choir. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery with Masonic graveside rites conducted by Young Cane Masonic Lodge # 597 F&AM.
The following gentleman have been ask to serve as pallbearers, Nick McClure, Jamie McClure, Brad Thomas, Justin Thomas, Kevin Sutton, John Adams, Tyler Adams, Mark Thomas and Cody Thomas.
