Richard Charles Albury

December 21, 1936 — December 27, 2015

Richard Charles "Dick" Albury Sr., long time summer resident of Young Harris, Georgia, passed away on December 27th after a battle with pancreatic cancer. Dick was born and raised in Miami, Florida. After he retired from a family-run steamship agency in 1980, he and his wife of 49 years, Carolyn, developed property in the Truelove Mountain area. They motorhomed and traveled extensively in their retirement years. Dick knew and loved the Lord and has been welcomed to Glory with family and friends.

He will be warmly remembered by all who knew him, but especially missed by: his loving wife, Carolyn Albury; daughter, Debra Craig and her husband Chris; daughter, Karen Garrett; son, Richard Charles "Chuck" Albury Jr. and his wife Judy; step-daughter, Diana Dobbins, and her husband Jay; and step-son Michael von Schade and his wife Debbie. He leaves behind 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

He will be remembered as a man of few words with a huge heart who loved his family and who was true to his many friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 2, 2015 from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee with Rev. Jonathan Adams and Jay Dobbins officiating. Special remembrances will be shared by others in attendance. Interment will follow at Osborn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday afternoon from 2:00 p.m. until the service begins.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to: Shriner's Children's Hospital, 2900 N Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607; St Jude's Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 1893, Memphis, TN 38101-9950 or to the charity organization of your choice.
