Ruth Hammond

Mrs. Ruth Virginia Hammond, age 93, of Blue Ridge, GA, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2009 at the Copper Basin Life Care Center. Ruth was born April 1, 1916 in Fowler, County, Colorado to Frank C. Coats and Clara Hobbs Coats. She was a member of First Methodist Church of Fowler, Colorado where she lived most of her life, she was a member of the United Methodist Womens group and the Fowler Hobby Club where she enjoyed making a variety of crafts with friends and neighbors. In 1994 she and her husband Glenn moved to Epworth, Georgia, she attended the Epworth United Methodist Church and enjoyed being a apart of the Epworth United Methodist Womens Group.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Hammond, sister, Denise Gilmoreand and one brother-in-law, Willard Higgs..

Survivors include: son & daughter-in-law, Boyd & Carlie Hammond, granddaughter & husband, Marita & Barry Marbut, granddaughter & husband, Tara & Mike Monteith, granddaughter & husband, Tara & Mike Monteith, granddaughter, Raina Hammond, grandson, Franklin Hammond, granddaughter, Valdora Hammond, great-grandson, Phillip Marbut, great-granddaughter, Sarah Marbut, great-grandson, Matthew Marbut, great-granddaughter, Lindsey Monteith, great-grandson, Jacob Monteith, great-grandson, Cody Monteith, sister, Frances Higgs, nieces & nephews.

Private graveside services will be held Wednesday, July 29, 3009 at 11:00am from the Crestlawn Cemetery with the Reverend Barbara Davidson officiating.

There will be a family only vistation at the funeral home Tuesday, July 28, 2009 from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers family has requested donations be made to the area Alzheimers Association at 855 Abutement Road, Suite 6, Dalton, Georgia 30721 or to the Epworth United Methodist Church Renovation Fund at Post Office Box 163, Epworth, Georgia 30541.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home of McCaysville.
