Mrs. Ruth Lance, age 72, of Blairsville, GA passed away December 14, 2009 at Union General Hospital.
Ruth was born on May 3, 1937 in Wilcox County, GA, to the late Robert Lee and Sally Mae Wilkerson. Ruth was preceded in death by husband, Richmond Lance, daughters, Connie Keiger and Deborah Shearouse, two brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include: daughter & son-in-law, Diane and Daniel Abernathy of Murphy, NC, granddaughters, Kimberly Weinberg, Kristina Mason, Christy Lynn Shearouse, Carolyn Shearouse, Caitlyn Shearouse and Hailey Abernathy, grandsons, Mitchell Lance, Matthew Abernathy and Tommy Shearouse, sisters, Bobbie Mae Smallwood of Toccoa, GA, Eugeneia Sheets of Dawsonville, GA, Mary Lee Butler of Dawsonville, GA, Dorcus Webb of Oakwood, GA, Mattie Lovett of Fitzgerald, GA and Grace Reeves of Cumming, GA, brother, Millard Wilkerson of Buford, GA, great grandson, Austin Weinberg, great granddaughters, Mackenzie Weinberg, Jordyn Mason, Dannika Mason, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, December 19, 2009 at 11:00 AM from the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Grady Ray and Allen Swofford officiating. Music was provided by Linda Swofford. Pallbearers were Mitchell Lance, Adam Weinberg, Clayton Mason, Daniel Abernathy, Tony Prickett and L.J. Keiger. Burial followed in Mt Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family received friends at the Cochran Funeral Home Friday, December 18, 2009 from 6 until 9 PM.
