Sarah W. Patton, age 87.
A native of Murphy, NC, passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2009. Patton was the youngest daughter of the late Margie Norvell Witherspoon and Donald Witherspoon. She was born Monday, February 7, 1921. She was a graduate of Murphy High School, Montreat Junior College, and Women?s College of the University of North Carolina. She was the wife of Mack Slagle Patton, a native of Franklin, NC. She was preceded in death by son, Donald Andrew Patton, two sisters, Margaret W. Madden and Mary W. Brown.
Survivors include: husband, Mack Slagle Patton of Murphy, N.C., son & wife, Robert W.& Setsuko Patton of St. Louis, MO., daughter, Mamie Patton of Oak Ridge, N.C., 2 granddaughters; Sarah Kei Patton of New York, & Elaine Patton of Los Angeles, CA., grandson, Andrew Patton of Cincinnati, OH.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, and a member of Archibald of North Carolina Chapter DAR, also a former Regent.
In lieu of flowers family requests contributions be sent to Heritage Partners River Walk at P.O. Box 1152, Murphy, N.C., 28906.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, February 05, 2009 at 1:00 pm from the First United Methodist Church of Murphy. Visitation at the church will follow the memorial service.
