Skip S. Mulkey, age 41 of Murphy, NC passed away Saturday, May 15, 2010 at Mission Hospital. Skip was born January 26, 1969 in Cherokee County to Steve Walter Mulkey and the late Joyce Mulkey of Warne, NC. He attended First Baptist Church and Peachtree Memorial Baptist Church of Murphy.
Skip was an Investigator for Clay County Sherriff?s Department and had worked for Clay County E.M.S. He had also worked for several local Law Enforcement Departments and was a volunteer fireman for Clay and Cherokee Counties. He was an avid gun collector and trader. He enjoyed playing his guitar and spending time with his family and friends.
Skip is preceded in death by his mom, Joyce Mulkey and father-in-law, Harry Lovingood. Surviving in addition to his wife, Cynthia Lovingood are son, Eli Mulkey and daughter, Janica Mulkey. Skip is also survived by his dad, Steve Mulkey of Warne NC; sister, Pebbles Rogers of Warne; sister & brother-in-law Tiffany and Doug Martin and niece and nephew, Aleigh and DJ Martin of Hayesville NC. Brother-in-law and wife, Clark and Darlene Lovingood of Robbinsville NC. Several other family members also survive.
The family will receive friends, Monday, May 17, 2010 from 6-9pm at Cochran Funeral Home in Peachtree. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at 2:00pm at Cochran Funeral Home and graveside service at Many Forks Baptist Church in Young Harris, GA. Rev. Ricky Rogers and Rev Eddie Hardin will be officiating with graveside service by Jimmy Rogers. Music will be provided by Brenda Crowder Leek and Chris West. Internment will be at Many Forks Baptist Church Cemetery with graveside honors conducted by Law Enforcement Personnel.
Pallbearers will be Scott Ingram, Stacy Ingram, Tony Henderson, Ricky Mull, Ronnie Shook and Merlin Ledford. Honorary pallbearers include past and present members of local Fire Departments and Law Enforcement Agencies.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation at www.jdrf.org.
