Mr. Ted C. Tyre, age 73 of Blairsville, GA, went home to be with his Lord, Saturday, March 8, 2008.
Ted was born Friday, August 3, 1934 in Fulton County, GA to the late Tolley Tyre and the late Ruby Bradley Tyre. He had lived most of his life in Atlanta before moving to Blairsville in 1997. He had worked for Taber Pontiac in Atlanta for 16 years then retired after 22 years as a truck driver. He was a member of Ivy Log Baptist Church and was preceded in death by brother, Carlton Tyre.
Survivors include: wife of 50 years, Sybil Harkins Tyre of Blairsville, GA, son & daughter-in-law, Michael Carlos Tyre Maddox and Teresa of Sherrills Ford, NC, daughter & son-in-law, Tammy Tyre Swanson and Jerry of Dacula, GA, son, Chuck Tyre of Blairsville, GA, sister, Betty Wright, IL, grandchildren, Travis, Jennifer, Cindy, Jennesa, Sylvia, Kennedy and Christopher, great-grandsons, Jaylen and Christian, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. from the Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Karnes and Rev. Tony Black officiating. Music will be provided by, Rev. Jerry Karnes and Melissa Mashburn, Rev. Matt Dibler. Interment will follow in Ivy Log Baptist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are: Calvin Collins, Corey Collins, Yeona Chambers, Donald Elliott, James Harkins and Robert Harkins. Honorary pallbearers include: Larry Connally and Rufus Everett.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-9 P.M., Monday, March 10.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made to Alzheimers Association, 100 West Walnut Ave., Suite 90, Dalton, GA 30720 or to The Gideons International Blairsville Camp, PO Box 521, Blairsville, GA 30514.
