Tommy Payne passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 16, 2021, at his home. Mr. Payne was born July 17, 1938, in Atco, Georgia, to the late Bud Payne and the late Parthenia Ponder Payne. He grew up in Atco in the Goodyear Mill Village. His dream was to be a Naval Officer, and he achieved that dream during his 26 years of service. Among other stations, he served on the USS Essex, the USS Kennedy, and the USS Saratoga. Tommy enjoyed seeing every port city across the world. After retiring, he moved to Blue Ridge, and was active at Harbor Ministries.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Sullins, his three daughters and their families; Lori and Edward Stephens, granddaughter, Emma; Sherry and Fred King, grandson, Daniel and Hannah Hart, great-granddaughters, Mary and Charlotte; Lisa and Herb Ketternacker, granddaughter, Hannah and Matt Horvath, great-grandsons, Elijah and Ezra.

There will be a private graveside service at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia.
