The Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee announces services for Mrs. Velma Marcelle Neal, age 70, who passed away Tuesday evening, November 15, 2011 at her home. Mrs. Neal was born in Hollindale, Mississippi on August 3, 1941 to the late William & Evelyn Snyder McNemara. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mona Vicknair; her parents; 1 sister and 6 brothers.
She will be fondly remembered by all who knew her, but especially missed by her family: Husband, Charles Neal of Hiawassee; Daughter, Carol Ann Thurmond of Cleveland, Georgia; Step- Daughter, Cynthia Harper of Canton, Ohio; Foster Daughter, Amanda Patterson of Hayesville, North Carolina; Her Grandchildren, Thomas Vicknair, Pamela and Shelley Lawrence, Taylor and Athyn Thurmond, Rose Simpson and Junior Scott. She is also survived by 3 Great Grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 18, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. David Berrong and Rev. Tommy Thomas officiating. Special Music will be provided by Spiritual Echoes & Larry Nichols. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. Interment will follow in the Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery. The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pallbearers: Kevin Moss, Dale Penland, David Penland, Jeff Penland, Kemmy Garrett and Heath Kimsey. Honorary Escort to the family will be Dennis Penland, Ray Brown, Jack Moss, Herman Cheeks, Kevin Cheeks Jimmy Anderson, Leon Bradshaw and Johnny Garren.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Union County Dialysis Center, 344 Appalachian Ave., Blairsville, Georgia 30512 or your favorite charity.
