Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville announces the death and funeral services for Mrs. Viva Gunter Lane, age 87, of Blairsville, Georgia, who passed away Sunday morning, September 6, 2009 at her home.
Mrs. Lane was a native of Bell County, Kentucky, and moved to Blairsville in 1974; she attended the House of Prayer Interdenominational Church. Mrs. Lane was preceded in death by her husband, John Lane; a son, Willie B. Lane; and a grandson, Jason Pascarella.
Surviving family members include: a son, Phillip Arnold Lane and his wife, Sally, of Sevierville, Tennessee; a son, Sherman Delno Lane and his wife, Victoria, of Bowling Green, Kentucky; a daughter, Ola Vanek and her husband, Ron, of Burbank, Illinois; a daughter, Dora Anna Chandler and her husband, David, of Summerville, South Carolina; and daughter, Jacqueline Faye Montreuil and her husband, Al, of Liberty Township, Ohio; a brother, Robert Lee Gunter of Evergreen Park, Illinois; and a special friend, Frances King, of Blairsville; Sixteen grandchildren; Thirty-one great grandchildren, and ten great great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, September 9, 2009, at 2:00 p.m., from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, with Pastor Jerry Helton officiating. Special music will be presented by members of The House of Prayer Choir. The following grandsons have been selected to serve as pallbearers: John Lane, Lee Upchurch, Jr., Louis Upchurch, Tommy Henley, Stanley Lane, and Phillip Lane, Jr. Burial will be in Union Memory Gardens Cemetery. The Family will meet with friends Tuesday evening, from 6 until 9 pm.
