Wayne Gibson

Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee announces graveside services for Mr. Wayne Gibson, age 73 who passed away peacefully at his home in Hiawassee, Ga. January 26, 2017.
Mr Gibson was born in Young Harris, Ga. July 12,1943 to the late Walter Gibson and Alma Kuykendoll Gibson. Wayne was self-employed and spent many years servicing, repairing, and rebuilding large fans for power plants. He loved his work and was very dedicated to his family. He was a great people person, and according to his family, never met a stranger. He did extensive traveling and had visited several foreign countries. Probably though what he liked the most was to collect things. Cars, of which he had several, and was a collector of many other things as well.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Alma Gibson; son, Russell Gibson; sister, Teresa Burch; and brother, Dean Gibson.
He will be greatly missed by surviving family members, wife, Lottie Ophelia Wright Gibson; son, Jody (Dena) Gibson of Lincolnton, Ga.; daughter, Rhonda (Bart) Mize, of Cleveland, Ga.; daughter, Carole Shirley, of Young Harris, Ga.; brother Billy Gibson, of Hiawassee, Ga.; brother, Alvin Gibson, of Gainesville, Ga.; sister, Margie Hooper, of Young Harris, Ga.; nine (9) Grandchildren; and one (1) Great Grandchild.
Serving as Pallbearers are Cash Gibson, Brandon Shirley, John Ludwig Jr., Kevin Partridge, Billy Wilkes, Chad Gibson, Jerome Burch and Mike McCombs; Honorary Pallbearers are Mark Hooper and Darrin Hooper.
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 28, 2017 from the chapel of Cochran Funeral Home of Hiawassee, The family will receive friends and aquaintences from 5:00 until 8:00 pm. Wayne will then be transported on Sunday, January 29, 2017 to Bethany Methodist Church Cemetery at 2615 Bethany Church Rd. Lincolnton, Ga. 30817 where a graveside service will be held at 4:00 pm with Rev. Paul Revere officiating.
Flowers will be accepted, and lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association Georgia Chapter, 922 East Morris St., Dalton, Ga. 30721.
