William (Bill) Rymer

William Boyd “Bill” Rymer of McCaysville, GA passed away on October 20, 2011. He was born on July 26, 1928 to Noah & Amy Rogers Rymer in Benton, TN and is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jimmie Glenn Rymer, one brother, James O. Rymer (Margarette) of Hixson, TN, and sister-in-law. Ethelene Rymer of Benton, TN. Bill is also survived by son, Leland Rymer (Ann) of Copperhill; daughter, Amy Rymer Layne (Charles), and grandchildren Colin Rymer, Hayley Rymer, and Noah Layne. He is preceded in death by brothers and sisters Jackson T. (Bonnie) Rymer of Kingston, TN; Wilbur O. Rymer of Benton, TN; Velma R. (Clay) Ratliffe of Etowah, TN; Evelyn R. (Bill) Kerr of Cleveland, TN; Stella R. (Leland) Parrish of McCaysville, GA.
Not long after graduation from Polk County High School, Bill enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served three years. He met Jimmie Frances Glenn while working in Chattanooga, and they married in 1953. Following graduation from East Tennessee State University in 1957, Bill came to Copperhill to work at Dickey-Mc Cay Insurance. He began as an insurance agent and over his 53-year career, Bill worked in different capacities ranging from agent to president and owner. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed golfing, working in the yard, and most of all, spending time with family. Bill was an active member of the First Baptist Church of McCaysville-Copperhill. In the community, he was involved in a number of organizations, including Jaycees, Kiwanis, and he also served on the McCaysville City council for multiple terms.
