Wilma Louise Herren

December 26, 1926 — August 13, 2012

Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville announces graveside services for Mrs. Wilma Louise Herren, age 85, of Blairsville, Georgia, who passed away Monday evening, August 13, 2012 in Union County Nursing Home in Blairsville.

Mrs. Herren was born on December 26, 1926, in Coffee Springs, Alabama, a daughter of the late Brady Myers and Lucille Mott Myers. She had been living in Blairsville since 2008, moving here from Albany, Georgia. Mrs. Herren grew up on a farm in Alabama, raising food crops. Louise had a true servant's heart, and helped to raise over 20 foster children, and worked as a nurse's aide at West Georgia Medical Center. All of her family was spoiled by her cooking, and she was well-known for her collection of hats! Louise was a member of Harmony Grove Baptist Church in Blairsville, and Thomas Memorial Baptist in Albany. Her husband, Alton Joe Herren, passed away in 2000; and a son, Everett Deloy Herren also preceded her in death. A brother, Travis Myers, has also preceded her in death.

Louise was dearly loved and will be greatly missed, especially by her family: daughter and son-in-law, Myra A. Duffey and Claude W. Duffey; sisters: Betty Hudson, Jeanette McEachin, and Joyce Watson; grandchildren: Brian Anthony Duffey, Joel W. Duffey, Paul A. Duffey, and Pamela D. Shook. Thirteen grandchildren also survive.

Graveside services are scheduled for Friday, August 17, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., at Crown Hill Cemetery in Albany, with Rev. Wallace Willis officiating. Special music will be presented by Claude Duffey and Jerry McEachin. The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pallbearers: Brian Duffey, Joel Duffey, Justin Duffey, Kolby Duffey, Winston Herren, and Vincent Herren. Visitation will not be held in Blairsville.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville by the family. Please sign the guest registry and share your condolences with the family on our website, www.cochranfuneralhomes.com.
