Dora Peek

Mrs. Dora Peek, age 83, of Murphy went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 25, 2023. Dora was born June 1, 1939 in Murphy , NC to the late Willard and Artie Dockery Radford. She attended and later became a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. She also attended Old Fashioned Baptist Church. In 1957, Dora graduated from Murphy High School which marked the first graduating class at the current location. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Peek, whom she married on December 26, 1957. She was also preceded in death by her brother, John Radford.

In her spare time, Dora enjoyed writing stories, gardening, canning, and gathering with her family and friends. She previously worked at Brumby Textile, Clifton Precision, and the Cherokee Scout before retiring.

Survivors include daughter Lynn (Tom) Deweese, daughter Sherry Peek, son Steve (Susan) Peek, brother Ab (Opal) Radford, and seven grandchildren, Mark, Brittany, Evan, Kendra, Stephanie, Tiffani , and Chelsea. Great grandchildren include Jackson, Cecelia, and Elliot. She also had several great nieces and nephews including Mason, Alyson, and Amelia.

Family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, January 27, 2023 with the funeral service following at 8:00 pm at Cochran Funeral Home with Reverend Hoyt Brown officiating. Interment will follow on Saturday morning, January 28, 2023 at 11:00 am at the Hanging Dog Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Mark Deweese, Evan Deweese, Tom Deweese, Adam Radford, Tim Radford, Douglas Radford, and Malachi Beaver.
