Edna Shope Colwell

Mrs. Edna Shope Colwell, age 91 of Blairsville, GA, passed away Monday, February 19, 2007 at Union General Hospital. Mrs. Colwell was born Friday, March 12, 1915 in Union County, GA to the late Chumley Shope and the late Maggie Everett Shope. Mrs. Colwell was a member of Mt. Pleasant #1 Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Colwell and a son, Vaughn Colwell.

Survivors include: son and daughter-in-law, Reid and Dora Colwell, son and daughter-in-law, Haskin and Austine Colwell and daughter-in-law, Jackie Colwell, all of Blairsville, sisters, Ina Belle Voyles of Carnesville, GA, and Eva Bowers of Blairsville, GA, granddaughters, Annette Colwell, Gina Sullivan and Paige Swartz and grandsons, Trannis Colwell and Joe Colwell, all of Blairsville. 12 great grandchildren along with many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 21, 2007 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of the Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, with Rev. Vernon Davenport and Rev. Kenny Beavers officiating. Music will be provided by The Faith Singers. Interment will follow in the Mt. Pleasant #1 Baptist Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are: Joe Colwell, Trannis Colwell, Earl Sullivan, Toby Swartz, Lloyd Voyles and Randy Shope. Honorary pallbearers include: Brian Mason, Rufus Everett, Jerry Everett and Charles Hughes.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-9, Tuesday, February 20.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made to Mt. Pleasant #1 Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.

The Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville, Georgia is in charge of arrangements.
