Emma Jeanette Hamby Raper

Emma Jeanette Hamby Raper passed away Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at a Polk County TN Care facility. She was the daughter of Vyrtle Williamson Hamby and Frank Jackson Hamby. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Raper who passed away April 3rd, 1991, and her son Darryl Keith Raper who passed away July 6, 2019. She was a devoted wife and mother. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Guinn Hamby and Jack Hamby, and two infant sisters. 

She is survived by one sister, Joyce Allen of Murphy, sister-in-laws, Brenda Hamby and Juanita Hamby. Niece, Sherry Graves, nephews, Alan Hamby, Jon Allen, and Larry Hamby. Great-niece, Cassandra Anys, and great-great-nephew, Asher Anys. 

Jeanette lived in Cherokee County, NC until moving to Port Orange, FL where she lived for 20 years before moving to Sevierville, TN. She worked in retail while in FL. She also helped her husband in their store in Turtletown, TN Raper Brothers Merchandise.

Jeanette was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.
