Katherine Hughes

Katherine Christine Hughes, 94, passed away Thursday, June 30, 2022, at Wellstar Paulding Nursing Home in Dallas, GA. Katherine was born November 6, 1927, in Isabella, TN to Benjamin and Fannie Walden. 

Katherine was married to Rev. Earl Hughes for 68 years and was a very devoted minister's wife.

She was preceded in death by her father, Benjamin Walden; mother, Fannie Walden; husband, Earl Hughes; daughter, Wanda Ledford Russell; brother, Clyde Walden; brother, Taft Walden; sister, Bertie Gilbert; sister, Edna Mae Hopkins; sister, Blanch Chastain; great-grandson, Justin Davenport. 

Katherine is survived by her daughter, Joyce Hughes (Fred) Bandy, of Dallas; grandchildren Lynn (Kelly) Bandy, Robin (Welsey) Davenport, Buffy (Fritz) Baugh, and Shane Bandy (Elizabeth); brother, Lane (Nellie) Walden. She is also survived by great-grandchildren, Micah Baugh, Jonathan Berrier, Hannah Pittman, Julia Montieth, Natalie McLaughlin, Patrick Bandy, and Madeline Bandy; and great-great grandchildren, Haley Davenport, Ruthie Davenport, Caroline Montieth, Sawyer, Kendra, and Emma Pittman, and Ewan McLaughlin; brothers-in-law, Jack (Velma) Hughes and Glenn (Lois) Hughes; sister-in-law, Juanita Hughes. 

She dearly loved the Lord and was a tremendous witness of her faith. Katherine was a phenomenal housekeeper, loved sewing, crocheting, and making clothes for her family. She was well known for her devoted love to her family.

Funeral Service, on Tuesday July 5, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Finch-Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Don Rackley, Jerry Rice, and Wesley Davenport officiating. Music provided by Wayne Morgan. Internment will follow in the Crestlawn Cemetery.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Micah Baugh, Jonathan Berrier, Justin Montieth, Shane Bandy, Lynn Bandy, and Patrick Bandy.

The family will receive friends at Finch-Cochran Funeral Home Tuesday Tuesday, July 5, 2022, from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM.

Flowers will be accepted or donations can be made to the Midway Baptist Church; PO Box 594, McCaysville, Georgia 30555.
