Lynda Gail Gilbert

December 28, 1961 — January 3, 2021

LYNDA GAIL GILBERT
Gail Gilbert passed away peacefully on January 3, 2021 at Chatuge Regional
Nursing Home in Hiawassee, GA. Gail was born in Atlanta, GA on December
28, 1961 to the late Marcus Luther Gilbert and Edith Emaline Howard
Gilbert.
Gail is survived by her sister Marcia Hogsed and her husband Sherrill Hogsed
of Hayesville, NC, her son Jeremy Mainard of Albuquerque, NM, her daughter
Haley Lyons and her husband Michael Lyons of Lexington, KY and their three
daughters, Jordyn, Emilie and Olivia Lyons. She is also survived by her
adoring nieces Beth LaFond-Nash (husband Brandon Nash) and Kelley
McCollum as well as great-nieces and nephews, Madison Foster, Nicholas
Foster, Kelan McCollum and Kinley McCollum.
Gail moved to Cleveland, GA with her family in 1972 and continued to live in
the area most of her life. In 2002 Gail suffered a heart attack that left her
severely disabled. Even in the face of debilitating health issues, Gail
remained cheerful and a joy to be around. She never lost her quick wit and
ability to make friends and family laugh and smile. Gail was known for
never being afraid to say what was on her mind.
Gail loved music, art of all kinds, quiet time for reading – especially poetry,
and a good cup of coffee (with extra cream!). Most of all she was a devoted
mother and loved her children. Gail loved nature and was quick to point out
beauty in all God created.
Gail’s wish was to be cremated. She will be greatly missed by family, friends
and everyone who’s life she touched. In an abundance of caution, no
service is planned at this time. Her family wishes to get together later this
summer for a remembrance of her life.
So many beautiful days with you.
Though your smile is gone forever,
we see your beauty and love in all the small things.
Your hand we can no longer hold,
your laughter we can no longer hear.
Now we are told to say our goodbyes but
we still have so many loving memories,
which we will never part with.
God holds you in his arms.
We will forever hold you in our hearts - never to say goodbye.
We love you.
