Mildred Sturr

Loving wife and mother, Mildred (Millie) Sturr, age 94, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on November 6, 2022 after a period of declining health.  She was born to the late Norman and Mildred Galey on November 15, 1927 in Everett, MA.  Mildred grew up in Dayton, OH where she met the love of her life, soul mate and husband of 72 years, Richard who preceded her in death.  They had three daughters, Linda Kniess (John) of Blairsville, GA, Jane Shaffer (Jack) of Quincy, OH and Dr. Marianne Sturr (Jim Cahill) of Margate, NJ.  They were blessed with three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Richard’s retirement in 1989 they moved to Hiawassee and built their dream home in the mountains. Besides traveling the country, she and Richard were avid golfers.  Millie was particularly proud of her hole in one on the 16^th hole at Chatuge Shores Golf Course.  She especially enjoyed frequenting local restaurants and appreciated the special attention she always received from the staff.
