The Cochran Funeral Home of Blairsville announces Funeral Services for
Ms. Nita Mae (Cordell) Foster age 84 of Lance Mountain Road, Blairsville, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. Ms. Foster was born May 19, 1936 to the late David Burnette Cordell and the late Altha Beaver Cordell. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant #1 Baptist Church.
She will be missed by all who knew her, but especially by her family: her children, Steve Anthony Foster (Linda), Debbie Anita Scroggs (Duke), and Dianna Lynn Foster; grandchildren, Joshua H. Shook, David L. Foster (Brandie), Kyle Mitchell Odom, Wendy Sipe, and Krista Anita Fox (Chris); and great grandchildren, Sawyer David Fox, Mason Kyle Fox, Holden Charles Fox, and Kenneth Robert Foster. Nita Mae was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Bill Cordell; sister, Minnie Ownbey; son, Mitchell Gregory Foster; grandson, Jerrod E. Shook; and her loving husband of 53 years Kenneth E. Foster, whom she faithfully sat by for the last 4 years of his life, determined that he was given the best care possible.
While her early years took Nita around the world as she supported her husband in a 24 year career in the Air Force, in her later years, Nita enjoyed spending her time at home. Her family meant the world to her and she was most proud of her grandchildren and great grandsons. She was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and could be found cheering for "her boys" any time they were playing. She enjoyed caring for her numerous flowers and plants and bird watching at her many bird feeders.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2020 from the Chapel of Cochran Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Underwood officiating. A Eulogy will be given by Nita Mae's granddaughter, Krista Fox. Special music will be presented by Matthew Roach. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery. The following gentlemen have been selected to serve as pallbearers: Chris Fox, David Foster, Chris Sheffield, Parker Foster, Greg "Butch" Foster, and Kerry Foster. Honorary pallbearers will include Kyle Odom, Sawyer Fox, Mark McGillis, Roger Ownbey, and Kent Foster.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6 until 9 p.m.
