Ralph Harold Martin, age 68 of Murphy, NC, passed away at Union General Hospital in Blairsville, Ga. Wednesday Jan 5, 2011. Martin was born in Cherokee, NC to John Robert Martin and Ora Anderson Martin. A member of New Martin Creek Baptist Church, enjoyed golf, hunting, fishing and singing. A US Army veteran , he was preceded in death by father, John Robert Martin, mother, Ora Martin, sister, Ann Martin Ledford.

Survivors include: wife, Sherry Anne Martin, daughter, Jodi (Carl) Martin, daughter, Tracey C. (Darrell) Hindman, son, Jason (Tonya) Martin, daughter, Jami (Thomas) Blair, step-daughter, Sharon (Johnny) Stiles, step son, Michael (Jennifer) Dalrymple, brother, James C. Martin, sister, Louella (Benny) Woods, granddaughter, Heidi Coward, grandson, Jason Coward, grandson, Ryan Martin, grandson, Jake Martin, grandchildren, Sarah, Katie, Ethan Hindman, grandchildren, Grace, Wyatt Martin, grandchildren, Adam, Lauren, Logan Blair, grandchildren, Nathan, Luke Stiles, grandson, Matthew Dalrymple, nieces and nephews, Serving as Pallbearers were: Jason Coward, Jeremiah Barnard, Nathan Stiles, Ethan Hindman, Matthew Dalrymple and Billy Vespasian, Honorary Pallbearers were: Junior Dockery, Randy Beavers, William Abernathy, Jack Parker, Thomas Blair, Darrell Hindman and Carl Martin.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Jan 8, 2011 from the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Aud Brown officiating. Music was provided by: Jack Parker. Interment followed in the New Martins Creek Cemetery with full Military Honors by local Veterans organizations, Murphy VFW Post 10222, Joe Miller American Legion Post 96, DAV Chapter 73 of Clay County, and Clay County VFW Post 6812.
